Fall Immunity

The first day of fall has passed, and us here in Cali are still experiencing harvest ripening weather!  But I know in other parts the temperature is dropping, so we know that “winter is coming”, for all you game of thrones fans.

Fall is a time of year when our immune systems are challenged, and our lungs in particular start showing signs of weakness (if they are).  Some people experience allergy like symptoms, or feeling run down, which just means your lungs need some support.  Most the time when we come in contact with infections, it’s usually either through the mouth or through the respiratory system.  By boosting these two pathways, the lungs and the gut, your chances of getting these nasty illnesses this season will greatly diminish.
Tip: I do NOT recommend Flu Vaccinations, as their is no adequate research and they usually cause more harm than good.

Here are some quick tips to strengthen these two pathways:

1. Of course…… boosting your immune system through your nervous system. A lot of patients say when they get regular chiropractic care, they are FAR less sick.  And this is proven through research as well.  This is because your nervous system also controls the immune system, so when your brain isn’t bogged down with nervous system inflammation, (being out of alignment), it doesn’t have to take energy away from making the immune system strong.

2.   Acupuncture is also a great tool to use to boost the immune system, balancing the lung and gut meridians can be very helpful.

3. Craniobiotic Technique.  I used this energy technique in my office to screen for hidden infections.  A lot of times hidden mold in the air passageways, can make us more susceptible to get other infections.

4. Using Essential Oils.  There’s many essential oils that work wonders for killing bugs, protecting against bugs, and cleaning the air.  You can make your own blends, diffuse throughout your household, or have some with you on the go if you think you will be exposed to anything.  My favorites for the lungs are cardamom, eucalyptus, and white fir.

**SUPER TIP-  For those of you who are flyers, here is an AMAZING tip for traveling.

Airplanes get stuffy, the air congestion is bad, and there’s always some sick people.  Ask the flight attendant for a steaming hot cup of water.  Then add one drop of Doterra onguard, oregano, melalucea and lemon.  Place your nose over the steam and breathe it in.  After it cools, then drink the water.  This works wonders for clearing the air passageways, and protecting you.

5.  Herbals and Supplements.  There are additional rockstar herbals for killing those nasty bugs lung and gut wise.  Thats for another topic.  But immunity wise, you need to make sure you have a good solid foundation first.  Taking a good whole food based organic multivitamin, omega, minerals, and possibly some other nutrients if you are deficient it HUGE for creating immunity as well.  We are ALL, and I repeat ALL vitamin and mineral deficient.  This is because the quality of our food and soil is just so poor.  A lot of people are even eating well and still nutrient deficient, frying cooking oils like coconut or olive oil at too hot of a heat, killing their food through microwaves, ect.  In short, we need that foundation.  It’s essential.  Ask me what you should be taking…

Eat good probiotics is a great source as well.  You don’t need to take a supplement unless you’ve had some antibiotic use-age, which then it’s critical, but just eat some fermented foods to help support your gut health.  Eating good amounts of fiber is also important from veggies.

But eating healthy/organic/grass fed is expensive right?  Actually, you should be saying why is all the crap food so CHEAP?  It’s like getting an expensive pair of jeans.. You buy them because why?  They last longer, more comfy, ect.  If you buy cheap jeans, maybe they fade or shrink or just fall apart.  The same goes here with your health.  If you eat the cheap crap stuff your health will be at the expense. You will fall apart more easily, get sick more easily, ect. And, not being healthy is far more expensive than being healthy.  Can I get an AMEN?

** For those in the bay I have an awesome partner I’m working with who does all natural organic food prep services.  You can buy good quality meals and they are delivered at the beginning of the week to your home or work, so you don’t have to worry about cooking, or getting a quick fast food meal when you don’t have time during the busy week.  Great for new moms too!  Let me tell you, they are all gluten free, but SUPER yummy.

** Silvercillin is also an amazing immune boost and antibacterial.  You can purchase it here for 20% off my online pharmacy.

6.  Sleep, sleep, sleep.  Getting adequate sleep is another big factor for immune support.  Our brain actually has it’s own lymphatic system called the glymphatic system, pretty cool right?  But, that only works when we are in deep sleep, to get toxins and and boost immunity.  If you aren’t sleeping well, there can be many issues including hormone imbalance, cranial problems (teeth clenching, sleep apnea), stress, blood sugar irregularity, EMF frequencies ( turn off your wifi at night, don’t sleep with your phones near you or TV on).  I can help with all of these, so never go without proper sleep.

7.  Stress.  We are all exposed to stress, but how we deal with it is a huge detriment to our health.  I can support you in many ways with this process through herbals and NET, but creating good stress managing habits are going to be the best for you.  Plan out your day the night before, that way you won’t be as stressed about what you need to do, or can’t remember all you were supposed to do.

8. Exercise.  Get moving, it’s the only way we pump our immune system.  Sorry, can’t eat amazing and NOT exercise.  You have to do both.  At least 45 mins every day, just keep moving.

9.  Air purifiers work great in your home and office as well.  I like the ozone purifier Mini Aer.  Check them out.

10.  Digestion.  If your digestion is all messed up, you aren’t absorbing any nutrients.  Gas, blenching, bloating, acid reflux, diarrhea, skin issues, constipation?  Sounds like a pepto bismal commercial!  You have to get your digestion working or else your immune system will take a toll.  After all, your gut is our number one immune system.  Acid reflux meds and activia are NOT the answer guys.  Most with symptoms have inadequate stomach acid from all the bad food, so thats always the start.  Then killing the bad bugs in the gut is the next step if needed.

11.  Sugar.  Sugar decreases your immune system, that includes alcohol as well.  Sorry guys.  Decrease your sugar intake, and switch over to organic fruit or Stevia or Manuka Honey. Blood sugar problems?  Well you will need additional support for that, but diet is big here.

12.  Toxins.  If you have hidden toxins those also slowly over time help deplete your immune system.  Silver fillings you’ll need to get those out ( ask me how).  Vaccines?  Clear out the heavy metals (they don’t actually create immunity)  Air exposure (all of us) do a 21 day purification program.  IT’s huge for preventative medicine.  Hidden toxins and infections are like slow immunity suckers.  Over time they create HUGE problems.

I think thats enough for now.  Most importantly, go outside and enjoy this wonderful time of year!  Vitamin D is huge for immune system as well. You only have one body, and you aren’t stuck with the body you’re born with.  Your body is constantly in a state of healing and wants to heal!
